LAST WEEK IN YOUR SCHOOL BOARD

On February 16th I had the honor of introducing myself to the members of the North Royalton Middle School PTA at their monthly meeting. It was nice hearing about all the great work they are doing for our students and staff. A few of the parents raised some very good questions to me and I hope through the district’s strategic planning process that those issues can be addressed. I have now officially visited every PTA in the District and have really learned a lot from attending these meetings.

At my Monthly Constituent Coffee on February 17th at the French Quarter; there was a very good turnout. I received a great deal of feedback from the constituents who attended and was able to address their specific concerns regarding the district. I just wanted to personally thank again all those who took the time to attend and give me their feedback. For those of you who don’t know about my Monthly Constituent Coffees. I hold these coffees in order to stay in touch with fellow residents and listen to their feedback. There is no appointment necessary. Simply stop by and talk to me. Check out my website www.danlangshaw.com in the weeks to come for the date of my March Coffee.

Renewal Levy Facts
I have received a few calls from constituents last week who were a little confused about the renewal levy that will be on the May 4, 2010 ballot. This renewal levy will not increase taxes. This levy is a combination of two issues, the first of which was passed in 1990 and was last renewed in 2005. The levy will continue to raise $6,695,000 annually. Please know this renewal levy will not increase taxes and passage is vital to allow our district to maintain current programs and services. This levy is a combination of two issues, the first of which was passed in 1990 and was last renewed in 2005. The levy will continue to raise $6,695,000 annually. If you or a neighbor has any questions regarding this please don’t hesitate to contact me at 440-785-4240 or at dan.langshaw@northroyaltonsd.org

THIS WEEK IN YOUR SCHOOL BOARD

This week there are a few committee meetings and events.

City of North Royalton Recreation Board Meeting on February 23rd at 6pm @ North Royalton City Hall. Located at 13834 Ridge Road; North Royalton, OH 44133.

North Royalton City Schools SCENE
What is SCENE? School Community Exchange Night for Education. Our community has spoken and we continue to listen and act. During the focus groups for the district’s Strategic Plan, it became very evident that our community truly values two-way informal communication. The district has chosen not to wait until after the development of the Strategic Plan to implement such an opportunity. On February 23rd at 7pm at the Albion Elementary Media Center located at 9360 Albion Road; North Royalton, OH 44133 where we will hold our first NRCS SCENE. This will offer members of the community a chance for questions and answers about your school district from our administrators. There will be a brief update from Albion principal, Mrs. Vojta and Superintendent Mr. Vittardi and then they will be available for two-way dialogue with our community.(Attached is a flyer for the event).

Finance Advisory Committee Meeting on February 24th at 7pm @ Board of Education Office Conference Room. Located at 6579 Royalton Rd.; North Royalton, OH 44133.

Save the Date
Our State Representative in Columbus in the Ohio General Assembly is Matt Patten. On March 1, Matt will be holding district office hours at the North Royalton Library between 5:00pm and 7:00pm. There is no appointment necessary. You may also contact State Representative Matt Patten via e-mail if you wish at Matt.Patten@ohr.state.oh.us. Many of you have raised specific concerns regarding legislation passed by the state and its impact on education in our district. This might be a good opportunity for you to get some answers to those kinds of questions and more.

Have a great week!
