Notes from the December Regular North Royalton School Board Meeting

At the December 14th Regular School Board meeting the Board took the following actions:
-Set Jan. 11, 2010 at 7pm, NRHS Community Rm, as the time and place for the Organizational Meeting of the Board of Education.
-Approved the appointment of Heidi Dolezal as the President Pro Tempore for the 2010 Board of Education Organizational Meeting.
-Approved advance from the General Fund.
-Approved 2009-10 appropriation adjustments.
-Accepted resignation.
-Approved leaves of absence.
-Approved appointments of certificated/licensed and/or classified employees.
-Approved/amend appointments for supplemental contracts for 2009-10 school year.
-Approved personal service contracts for interscholastic officials, athletic and student workers for 2009-10 school year as needed salary on schedule.
-Approved volunteers
-Approved extended trip proposal for High School Winter Guard Trip to Dayton, OH Feb. 27-28,2010 and the Middle School 7th Grade Trip to Chicago, IL Nov. 4-5,2010. (Please note that the student's parents are paying for the cost of these trips)
-Approved accepting and acknowledge gifts/donations from various individuals.

State Senator Tom Patton was in attendance and recognized the North Royalton School District on receiving for the 9th year a Ohio local report card rating of "Excellent with Distinction".

H1N1
-Superintendent Vittardi announced that the Cuyahoga County Board of Health will be administering H1N1 vaccines for the North Royalton students on January 13th and 14th within our six school buildings. The vaccine is NOT mandatory and will be provided free of charge. Students will be bringing home further information concerning the vaccination clinic on Friday, December 18, 2009.

Transition Update

I have been very busy since being declared the winner on November 3rd in getting ready to take office on January 11th. I have completed my tour of all the schools in the district and have met every principal of each as well. In additon I have met with the entire adminstrative team up at the board office. I have attended the last two school board work sessions and am getting up to speed with things.
